CHERRY TREE HOUSE
DOUBLE RESIDENCE IN MOUNT PELION
The brief
Design for a Double Holiday Residence in Vyzitsa Village in Pelion mountainVyzitsa, Pelion
2014
The relevance to the earth, the pursuit of the sea view, but also the peculiar shape of the inclined plot, were the starting points for the design of this double residence, which was developed into four in total levels. The two prisms-one elongated and another tower-like square- are arranged on the inclined plot and articulated at an angle, through a single-storey wedge-shaped element. The two houses, one for a couple and the other for the couple’s child, are potentially autonomous but also communicate through a common kitchen located on the main entrance. The program of the two houses is symmetrical: living room, work area, bedroom, guest house. The volumes of the two prisms, corresponding to the two dwellings, is indicated by a small square roof that serves as an outdoor passage from one house to the other.
