OPEN AIR LOBBY FOR THE OLYMPIC GAMES STADIUM
OPEN AIR LOBBY FOR THE OLYMPIC GAMES STADIUM
The brief
The design of this project was conceived of and carried out as a research project by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, on the occasion of the Olympic Games in Athens, 2004.Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

This project, representing a nodal point in the proposed grid of Olympic pedestrian paths traversing the city, consists of: 1. A triangular waiting area (4950m2) for those entering the Stadium 2. Some pavilions and shops selling items related to the events taking place in the Stadium 3. An elevated pathway connecting the Foyer area to its immediate environment: an area for sports and cultural infrastructures (i.e. gymnasiums, swimming pools, football training gorunds etc plus a contemporary gallery and green lawns with childrens playgrounds) potentially representing a prospective gate to the important Theatre in the Woods, but also to the city-wood of Seigh Sou. The design of the Foyer for the Stadium, in this particular area, involves the management and ordering of masses of sports fans waiting for their tickets to see the match and cheer on their team.
